found this written under the first aid box in the workshop at culdees.

pretty words

the same night i was browsing the guiness book of world records and came across the longest word in the world, which is swedish and weighs in at a rather substantial 130 letters:

NORDÖSTERSJÖKUSTARTILLERIFLYGSPANINGSSIMULATORANLÄGGNINGSMATERIELUNDERHÅLLSUPPFÖLJNINGSSYSTEMDISKUSSIONSINLÄGGSFÖRBEREDELSEARBETEN

meaning:

'preparatory work on the contribution to the discussion on the maintaining system of support of the material of the aviation survey simulator device within the north-east part of the coast artillery of the Baltic.'

how ridiculously cool is that? which of course brings us on to the most succinct word in the world which is the tierra del fuegan word:

MAMIHLAPINATAPAI

meaning:

'a look shared by two people with each wishing that the other will initiate something that both desire but which neither one wants to start.'

try dropping that into casual conversation sometime...
