the british ambassador to uzbekistan who has been a vocal critic of
the human rights record in the country complained in a leaked memo, to superiors in London
that British officials were "selling their souls for dross" -- accepting bogus confessions
tortured out of detainees and designed to trick Washington and London into supporting
Uzbekistan's harsh policies and giving it military aid.
the ambassador has now been removed from his post suffering from a 'mystery illness'
and in the staggering hypocrisy that only blair* is capable of he continues to wriggle out
of apologies for the war. maintaining that he 'cannot, sincerely at least, apologise
for removing saddam hussein' when all throughout the run up to the war he continued to
say that saddam could stay if he cooperated with weapons inspectors.
oh and if kerry is on the 'far left bank', then i guess me and nader are
on the moon somewhere.
