you didn't actually leave out "2001", did you? seriously, dude, that's the best sci fi film ever, and all the rest of those -- yes, even "Twelve Monkeys" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still" -- are as nothing in its shadow

2001 is a good film for sure.
but drama wise it's found a bit lacking
lalala.

Strange Days and Harrison Bergeron are two of my favourite movies! But what about Aliens, Donnie Darko, and most of the X-Files tv series?

i love donnie darko too, but is it a sci-fi movie?

Aliens could be top ten "strong female character" flicks, too.
I don't know if Donnie Darko is "officially" sci-fi, but it does kick ass and belongs on some kind of cool top ten list.
I like lists. :)
