i also love it when a tightly choreographed 'conference' goes to PR hell
seriously though it is a small event that sadly illustrates the way of western politics in 2005. democracy? it'd be nice.
it reminds me of a very prescient quote from a suprisingly lucid article in 'radar magazine':
'...Watergate, after all, marked the point when America's rising capacity for cynicism crossed paths with our declining capacity for outrage. For one glorious moment Americans could finally admit that the president was a crook and still care enough to stop him. Today we assume everything is a conspiracy. We just can't be bothered to give a shit.'
