8 or so bees in my bonnet
old art appreciation day here at chez recrea/recreational research towers:
just seen a tv programme on the latest tate 'blockbuster' 'degas, sickert and toulouse-lautrec' i forgot just how good degas is. and seeing as he was a right old cranky reactionary misogynist by most accounts it is amazing how sympathetic he is with the female form and subject matter. quite the pioneer. it is also great to see lesser know (and only slightly less brilliant) work of the contemperaries he influenced.
+ earlier this morning i saw a programme about rembrandt and this self-portrait still blows me away
followed by matthew collings enlightening and and often humerous take on his favourite old masters
schools tv is so much more engaging than the brain bubble gum they give us when everyone is watching. i'm sure i've said this before but set your video.
