8 or so bees in my bonnet

larger empires than ours have come a cropper in afghanistan.
it is an inaccessable mountainous agrarian society, and whilst coca cola is an interesting and sexy drink, unless you're prepared to build roads and social networks, it will remain a bizarre tooth rotting sugar water drink (they charge a $1 for it? (about the same as 40 grams of heroin))
and of course this says nothing about iraq...
first it must be agreed that iraq is an artificial state (more artificial than most)
a state for which partition could be the only answer
i guess like the horrible break up of yugoslavia
the west will be remembered for freeing a nation state
in order for it to attempt to destroy itself.
and now nationalism is the thing and not ideology.
ethnic cleansing is the new idealism,
we're all capitalists now...
it is like trying to seperate israel and palestine. thankless and really difficult.
ok, so this is history. and we got ourselves right into it.
it is wrong.
there is nothing you can do about the injustice.
but how can we try to disentangle and disarm our forefathers honest mistake?
certainly not with slogans like
'this land is my land'
everyone knows nationalism sucks of course
but what can we do about it?
we are all human.
