Dude, heh, I'm actually WATCHING this right now.
Scary.
My favorite part about this whole fiasco with these people is that the Hell's Angels have started picketing their picket lines because so many of them are veterans/support soldiers/etc. They show up en masse and ride circles around the group, blocking them out from the funeral proceedings. Loud, yes, but not the pack of crazies. It's totally opposite of what comes to mind when one thinks Hell's Angels. Awesome.
It would be really interesting to see something actually done about them; over here we tend to just attempt to ignore their existence.
i'm not sure i want anything 'done' about them, but hells angels driving around them in circles seems pretty apt.
By done I meant more along the lines of a documentary or something. The only time they get media exposure here is a minute of "Oh, those crazies." or a gay rights group freaking for a few minutes. I suppose that is for the best, because they're gunning for media attention and giving it to them isn't going to help. But they're fascinating in the way serial killers are, or something like that, and I'm drawn to wanting to know more.

I watched that yesterday, and I was kinda disappointed. It seemed like an hour long argument, which is fine, but if he's going to do that then research the subjects. Just when he was about to get to the young woman, he just let it slide. He needed to go Maury Povich on her.. (i.e make her feel like shit) but without the "prize" at the end. The worse part, is that he may have ruined the chance for anyone with some skill to do a more fitting documentary. Where was the interview with former congregation? if he asked, and they refused, why didn't he at least say that? What made the other documentary maker to change his beliefs? .. it just seems like he wanted to get in stir the bee hive and run away. Really, I learned nothing but what I had already suspected.
it's just the theroux style i guess, he doesn't really pretend to have an angle or be balanced. he goes in as open minded as any 35 year old journalist can be. and while attempting to find the good, uncovers the real skinny i'd like to see the editing process i guess...
it didn't tell me anything except that these are very normal people under the the sway of a very abnormal and dangerous ethos. the oxygen of publicity could be a very bad/very good thing for them.
I'm not fond of confrontation..
I don't mind the smell of sulfur, but not fond of the brimstone... ;)
I've never seen/heard this. | |
