i'd been away from a few days and i left my window open. imagine my surprise when i walked back into my lounge to find a couple of pigeons nesting in one of my plant pots. the resourceful pair had pulled out a dead stalk, thrown soil all about the place to get the right level, and arranged some twigs as a nod to nest building. of course as soon as the expectant mother saw me, she was off. they came back a couple of times though, to check it really was occupied, they obviously liked the situation.
i told them straight, (from a safe distance) 'listen, i'm flattered you like my lounge but this really isn't going to work out. you like peace and quiet. i'm a noisy bugger. and if you fly off every time i walk in the room your eggs'll get cold. i think it's best if you find another place...'
we don't have much of a bug problem over here apart from daddylonglegs season (easy to catch and set free) and the occasional moth, bee, wasp (glass and card technique) and housefly (which i take great pleasure in killing - DIE FUCKER!)
oh btw, as i suspected, mr & mrs pigeon aren't interested in the plantpot outside.
