get the girl and kill the baddies, horribly. [May. 21st, 2008|05:28 pm]
8 or so bees in my bonnet
[music |rrf - blow job from lara croft]

dexter, our anti-hero,
is a blood spatter specialist for the miami pd and part-time serial killer.
he has a code of conduct.
imparted to him by his foster father.

'if you are going to enjoy ritually killing people,
at least enjoy ritually killing the right people.'

and dexter remembers this well
he enacts everyones favourite revenge fantasies
and makes you watch them. close up.

unrepentant paedophiles? alien vs predator vs children.
serial drunk drivers? so much unreprocessed rubbish.
heartless human traffikers? the scum on the bath that needs to be washed away.

dexter does the job
and he does it with delicious malice aforethought,
and attention to detail.

but dexter has a blind-spot.
and it is a fairly serious one:
he admires and respects other serial killers.

I read the books too. I think they're better and they delve deeper into his psyche.

I always see it as a Super Hero but stripped of all the flash and glam. Similar to a Spawn figure. Bad but good.

It would work as one but the author of the books is more keen on actual novels.

We've chatted back and forth on Jeff Lindsay's MySpace. Because I am a geek.
